It was a dream I had one day when I was fighting a watermelon craving. I pondered whether watermelon could be sliced into tasty little ice cubes. It turns out that it can.
This delicious drink has just five ingredients: watermelon, limes (or sugar), white rum, and club soda.
Add watermelon juice and ice cubes, then top with club soda.
In no time, you’ll be enjoying limeade for adults.
This cocktail is easy to make and tastes great. The watermelon cubes melt and become boozy, making them the perfect snack to enjoy while you drink.
You may feel embarrassed if you use a straw and slide the watermelon into your mouth. But it is totally worth it.
The combination of these drinks and tacos was outstanding. When our glasses were empty, we wanted more. Be prepared to offer plenty of refills to your guests.
Ingredients
- Small seedless watermelon
- Two medium limes*
- White rum two shots (Bacardi).
- Sugar 2 tbsp
- 1-liter club soda
Instructions
- Slice the watermelon in half, leaving one quarter to be used for juice. Place them in a freezer bag and freeze for several hours or overnight, if possible.
- Press the remaining watermelon chunks with a flat surface or a muddler in a strainer placed over a bowl until the most juice is extracted.
- Slice limes in quarters and squeeze one of the fruits into each glass. Throw the limes along with the fruit. If you want a less tart drink, use only half a lime rather than two medium limes.
- Pour 1 Tbsp of sugar and 30 ml of white rum into each glass. Muddle until well combined.
- Fill the glass to the top with ice cubes made from watermelon, then add watermelon juice (1/4 cup) and club soda.
- Stir, garnish lime wedge, and serve with straw.
